Alma Remembered
From web editor
This my first blog posting, just to say the Alma day in Morcambe set for May 17th is now CANCELLED.
With encouragement from our indefatigable Trevort Benton, the January edition of 'RETRO' included two pages of Alma's story in the regular 'Behind the music' feature. They aslo added details of our fan club along with some stories facts and pictures.
Also a reminder that Gordon Burn wrote the novelised version of Alma's life which won the Whitbread Book Award in 1991.
The final paragraph of the artical quoted actor Jack Douglas, who attended Alma's funeral "I don't think I have ever stood at a graveside and seen so many men crying their eyes out".
There may be some issues in the hands of friends or perhaps still available for a week or two into March.
We thank Douglas McPherson who wrote the artical and 'RETRO' for including it.
